Meet your Neighbors

You’ll find Sunrise Bluffs to be a warm and welcoming community.  Below are just a few of the friendly people you’ll meet here!

John, Jane & Shelby

We chose Sunrise Bluffs because it was one of the few Senior communities in New Mexico that was gated.  It’s so laid back here.  Every day is Saturday. You can stay very busy or do nothing!   Shelby’s favorite activity is chasing the Gecko’s in the back yard.  I (Jane) like Mahjong  and John loves walking in the desert with Shelby and working in the garage.  We both love sitting on the patio & enjoying the weather, the view and  the peace & tranquility. The best thing is in March when the balloon rally takes off at Eagle Park & the balloons land on our street.  It’s fantastic!

Nedra & Alan

We started looking at several 55+ communities in 2000 and started a list of pro’s & con’s.  We wanted a gated community, deeded property, a home with an RV port & full hookups, swimming pool & a nice list of activities.  Sunrise Bluffs is quiet, safe and well maintained with beautiful views and nice amenities such as the exercise room & pool.  We enjoy walking, getting together with friends, relaxing in our back yard, enjoying the birds & butterflies and knowing that our house is safe when we’re on vacation.  Most of all, we love having the covered RV port with full hookups!

We had planned on traveling a lot & we liked the idea of the security of a gated community.  I also like the small town feel coupled with the proximity to Albuquerque and the airport.   I feel safe here, enjoy time with my neighbors and am involved lots of activities.  Line dancing is my favorite, but I also play canasta & go to most of the activities in the Clubhouse.  I enjoy the pool & I take care of the library.  I’ve become very involved in the area.  I volunteer at the Harvey House, Friends of the Whitfield Wildlife Conservation area & Bosque del Apache. Everyone here is very friendly, and it’s so nice having friends that are so close.

We moved here from Northern New Mexico because my husband had health issues.  We wanted to be closer to good medical care & wanted to be in a place where it would be easier to take care of him.  We were drawn to Sunrise Bluffs because of the friendliness of the people, the activities and because “it just feels like home.”  Visiting with friends is our favorite activity, but we also enjoy going to the casinos and local restaurants.  The community is very well oriented to seniors & does a great job of making it comfortable & appealing for all of us who live here.

Lois & James

For us, we love the fact that Sunrise Bluffs is close to family & medical care.  We like the  security, the deeded lots, the way the community is maintained, and having lifelong friends here. It is so nice living in a community that is age restricted so that we live with people of the same generation.  We enjoy the quietness that comes with watching the doves, bunnies & wildlife as well as getting outdoors, swimming and visiting with friends.    We’ve also become involved in Senior Olympics & table tennis at the multipurpose center in Los Lunas.

Linda & Warren

Our daughter lives in ABQ & we wanted to be nearby, but having lived in the city, we wanted to be in a smaller community. We liked the security of a gated community & we liked the idea of being in an age restricted community.  In terms of activities, we especially enjoy line dancing & several other activities in the club house.  And as RVer’s who like to travel, we never have to worry about forgetting to put out the trash or stopping the paper because our neighbors will take care of it if we forget & they will watch our house.  Everyone looks out for each other here.

When my sister Monica & I drove through Sunrise Bluffs it just felt right, and when we walked into this house we knew it was supposed to be ours.  After living in a big city for 30 years, the peace and quiet of the neighborhood is wonderful, and we love our neighbors!  Plus, Belen reminds me of home.  I volunteer at the Harvey House and attend all the local festivals and events in the area.  Here in the neighborhood, I enjoy anything that involves food such as coffee & donuts, pot luck’s & other activities in the club house.

My husband and I moved to Sunrise Bluffs in 2005 to be close to our son and family.  I’m alone now, but secure and happy because friends and neighbors here at Sunrise Bluffs watch out for me. Walking through the neighborhood is a favorite pastime as is playing cards, swimming and socializing with my neighbors.  I also love going to the library in Belen.  Sunrise Bluffs is a very nice place to be, and the people here are so friendly.
